Ryckaert, Maerten
Flemish painter (1587 - 1633)
Born and raised in Antwerp, Martin Ryckaert traveled to Italy and then became a member of the Antwerp Guild of St. Luke.
His work was characterized by rocky forest landscapes, often with waterfalls, ruins, and architecture, in what was then regarded as, and called, the "Italian manner."
Due to a birth defect, he had only one arm.
